Dr. Paul S. Hiack
Dr. Paul S. Hiack, 86, of Levittown, Pa., died on July 2 at Chandler Hall hospice.
Born in 1928, he was the son of the Rev. Frank and Mrs. Helen Hiack.
He was a graduate of Butler High School and Grove City College and received his Ph.D. from Columbia University.
Dr. Hiack had been a teacher at the high school in Kittanning and New Rochelle, N.Y. In 1961, he became a professor at the College of New Jersey in Trenton, N.J., and was chairman of the physics department from 1983 until his retirement in 2003. At that time, the college's new planetarium was named the Paul S. Hiack Planetarium in his honor.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
In 1956, he married Jeanne E. Griggs, who died in 2010.
Dr. Hiack is survived by his daughter, Paula Tenaglia of Levittown; one sister, Ruth Carey of Johnstown, N.Y.; his nephews, John Clem, David Carey, Thomas and Robert Clark; and his cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; his two sisters, Martha Clem and Marian (Roger) Clark; and his nephew, Scott Carey.
