Holly Suzanne Szakelyhidi
Holly Suzanne Szakelyhidi, 28, passed away unexpectedly Saturday in Philadelphia, where she was pursuing a career in photography and independent art.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1986, in Butler to David Clark Sr. and Joan Marie Day Szakelyhidi.
Holly grew up in the small town of Harmony and graduated from Seneca Valley High School.
Following high school, she attended Temple University's Tyler School of Art and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She intended to continue her education in the area of art therapy.
Holly used her art to explore the world around her and as an outlet for her emotions. She was a quiet soul who had a special gift to see the beauty in all things around her. Unselfish and caring, she wanted to teach others to use art therapeutically.
She loved animals, especially horses, and was a skilled equestrian. She volunteered with the equine therapy group at Glade Run. Active and athletic, Holly enjoyed running track, snowboarding, participating in Girl Scouts, playing guitar, attending concerts, and enjoying life with her friends and family.
Holly is survived by her grandparents, Frank and Mary Jean Szakelyhidi; her parents, David Sr. and Joan; as well as her eldest brother, David Jr., his wife, Erin, and their two children; her older brother, Stephen, his wife, Kimberly, and their two children; her older brother, Nicholas and his fiancee, Katie; and her countless friends and extended family.
