Wendel "Chip" and Betty Birckbichler of Butler will celebrate 60 years of marriage today with an open house and family dinner at The Runway Restaurant and Lounge in Penn Township.

The former Betty Cobb married Birckbichler on Jan. 10, 1946, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

They have six children, Joseph Birckbichler, Phillip Birckbichler and Jeffrey Birckbichler, all of Butler; Stephen Birckbichler of Chicora; Michael Birckbichler of Collegeville; and Barbara Ippolito of Charleston, Ill.

They also have 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Birckbichler is retired from Black and White Express in Butler where he was a partner. He enjoys playing cards.

Mrs. Birckbichler is a homemaker and former employee of Kmart. She enjoys reading, sewing and golfing.

The couple belongs to the Sixty Plus Bowling League. They enjoy gardening and bowling.
