Eugene and Patty Schaffer of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a surprise party given by their children. They will also celebrate with a family trip to Canada.

The former Patricia Cavalero married Schaffer on Sept. 25, 1954 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

They have two children, Mary Josephs and Joan Schaffer, both of Butler. They also have two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Schaffer is employed at Mikan Pontiac.

Mrs. Schaffer works at the Butler Eagle.
