Cam shows cat fed to eaglets
PITTSBURGH — News flash: Wild predators eat other animals.
Viewers of a webcam that shows nesting eagles in Pittsburgh on Tuesday saw the adult eagles bring a cat to the nest to feed two young eaglets.
Some viewers were disturbed that the image was caught on camera. But Rachel Handel, a spokeswoman for the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, said that the feeding behavior was perfectly normal.
Handel writes on Facebook that, “While many may cringe at this, the eagles bring squirrels, rabbits, fish (and other animals) into the next to eat multiple times each day.”
