Wednesday — Elsie Wight reported that someone between Monday and Wednesday stole a white-framed rope hammock valued at $80 from the porch of her West Penn Street home.11:21 p.m. Tuesday — Timothy Hucker, 37, of Center Township was arrested for driving under the influence after his car struck another car parked on North Monroe Street. The crash pushed the parked car into another parked car. Richard Gregg of Butler owns both cars that were parked.
Thursday — Police reported that Scott McNary, 23, of Washington, Pa., is accused of identity theft and other charges stemming from a Feb. 13 shoplifting incident at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons.Police said McNary gave officers another man's name when he and Rachel Johnson, 23, of Eighty Four, Washington County, were detained at the store for allegedly trying to take nearly $400 worth of DVDs without paying full retail value.Anews release last week issued by police erroneously reported that Andrew Wernert — the false name allegedly used by McNary — had been charged in the case.A police news release issued Thursday noted that Wernert, of Eighty Four, was not involved in the incident.Along with identity theft, McNary was charged with false reports to law enforcement authorities, retail theft, conspiracy and trespass. Johnson is charged with retail theft and conspiracy.
