Sunday — Sixteen motorists were stopped for speeding on Route 422 in Butler Township during an enforcement operation using state police aircraft.Officers participating in the State Police Aerial Reconnaissance and Enforcement detail, which targets aggressive driving, between 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. issued 21 citations and three warnings.Police noted the highest speed recorded during the two-hour operation was 91 mph.Saturday — A mailbox, wood post and attached cast iron bell were stolen between midnight and 6 a.m. from the Davis Road home of Leslie Peters in Oakland Township. The property is worth $100.Friday — Richard McPherson of Butler reported that someone between 7 p.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. Friday took his flight bag from the Butler Farm Show Airport on Evans City Road in Connoquenessing Township. The black canvas bag contained aviation-related property.July 29 — A New York woman told police her green leather purse was stolen between July 27 and 29 from Cooper Lake Campground in Muddy Creek Township.1:57 p.m. July 17 — A minivan driven by James Reading, 58, of Leechburg, Armstrong County, crashed into a guardrail at Route 8 and Turk Road in Brady Township. Reading, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries.

July 27 — About $1,400 in undisclosed property was stolen between July 6 and 27 in a burglary at the Madison Road home of David McCanna in Madison Township, Armstrong County.

Sunday — Undisclosed items were stolen between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in a burglary at the No. 2 Mine Road home of Barbara Cummings in Springfield Township, Mercer County.
