10:46 a.m. Thursday — Jason Mahood reported a would-be thief had just tried to steal an air conditioner from outside his West New Castle Street home.Mahood told police he saw the man take the property and run with it to a pickup truck. The owner confronted the unknown suspect, who claimed he believed the air conditioner was discarded garbage left next to the house.The suspect, who drive off in a gray Chevrolet S-10 pickup, is described as an older white man with black and gray hair.Thursday — Cherie Jordan reported someone took her son's bicycle from the yard of their South Street home overnight. The bike is an orange and black Next model, valued at $100.Wednesday — Ernest Jones, 49, of Butler, a convicted sex offender, was charged with a Megan's Law violation for failing to notify police that he had recently moved.Police said they learned earlier this month that Jones was no longer living at a Pillow Street apartment, his last known address. Officers later tracked the defendant to his new apartment on South Monroe Street.
11:28 a.m. Thursday — Two teenage girls and a woman were injured when their vehicles collided on North Liberty Road near Route 258 in Liberty Township, Mercer County.Police said the crash occurred when a 17-year-old driver, who police did not identify, lost control of her car and struck a sport utility vehicle driven by Kelly Jo Perrine, 37, no address given.A 14-year-old passenger in the car, who police did not identify, was flown by medical helicopter with serious injuries to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Both drivers, who had moderate injuries, were taken by ambulance to the Grove City Medical Center.
