Seven Fields girl celebrates special numerical birthday
SEVEN FIELDS — Dozens of good wishes will come Olivia Rose's way today as she celebrates a unique birthday.
Olivia, the daughter of Tanis and Terence Rose of Seven Fields, turns 12 today. Those who think it's just another adolescent's birthday should get a pencil and write out her birthday using all two-digit numbers.
Tanis Rose said she and her husband did not consider, upon Olivia's birth in Brooklyn, N.Y., that her 12th birthday would be on an unusual date.
“It never dawned on us that she would be a 12-12-12 baby,” she said.
Rose recalls that the doctor, not mother nature, made the call on Olivia's birthday. She said the family planned to visit relatives for Christmas, and her late pregnancy would mar the plans.
“He said 'How about tomorrow,' and I said 'OK,'” Rose remembered.
She said her daughter brought up turning 12 on 12-12-12 during her birthday last year, and the family realized the unusual coincidence.
“We were more focused on her being a millennium baby,” Rose said of Olivia's birth.
Because Rose recently had knee surgery, she was unable to plan a big party for Olivia.“I'm trying to think what I could do with all 12s,” Rose said. “I'm kind of stumped on it.”Regarding her only daughter, Rose said Olivia was blessed with a kind heart and a dynamic personality that can light up a room.“She's wonderful,” Rose said. “She's funny and sweet; just a joy.”Olivia appreciates her birthday oddity.“I think it's pretty cool because not a lot of people have a birthday like that,” Olivia said. “All my friends say 'Ooh, I'm so jealous.'”For one so young, Olivia's birthday wishes are reasonable.“Maybe I'll get a big 12 cake,” said the Haine Middle School sixth grader. “I'm lucky to have a birthday like that.”
