SR outpatient center updates medical imaging

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock Outpatient Services, a Grove City Medical Center affiliate, announced it has enhanced services with new digital medical imaging technology.

The center at 621 Kelly Blvd. has been equipped with a medical imaging system which allows patients' images to be electronically transferred to the hospital, where they can be interpreted by radiologists. Previously, when a patient had X-rays, the film would be developed and then sent by courier to the hospital for the radiologists' interpretation.

The quality of the images also is greatly increased over traditional film, according to Ken Humphreys, director of Grove City Medical Center's Medical Imaging Department.

"The high-resolution digital detectors that have been installed at Slippery Rock Outpatient Services are truly state of the art," he said in a press release. "The high quality images provide a tremendously improved diagnostic tool for our physicians."

The center, which provides outpatient laboratory and medical imaging services, has expanded its hours to 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday. For information about the Slippery Rock office, call 724-794-9662.
