National school threats monitored by Butler school district, nothing specific to Butler

Butler Area School District families received a notice from the district Friday morning, Oct. 4, saying that despite “general threats” being made to schools across the nation, the district has not received any specific threats.

The district’s superintendent, Brian White, said administrators are taking precautionary measures and working closely with local law enforcement to monitor the situation.

“As of now, all of our schools will continue to operate on a normal schedule with dismissal at the regular time,” White said in an email to parents and families. “Please rest assured that we are committed to the safety of our students and staff, and we will keep you informed of any changes.”

White also encouraged families to remain vigilant, and anyone who sees or hears anything concerning should report it to police, a school administrator or through Safe2Say.
