Mary Carney

Mary L. Carney, 89, of Mars, formerly of Natrona Heights and Bakerstown, passed away Wednesday evening at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born on July 30, 1925, in Ogle, she was the daughter of the late LaVerne G. and Nellie Croft Ripper.

Mary was a secretary for 23 years for Richland High School before retiring.

She was a member of the Middlesex Presbyterian Church, Butler. She enjoyed playing her organ and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her two sons, Dennis Carney and his wife, Linda, of Boiling Springs and David Carney and his wife, Linda, of Saxonburg; her daughter-in-law, Diane Carney of Cranberry Township; her sister, Doris Nolph of Saxonburg; her sister-in-law, Eileene Ripper of Gibsonia; her grandchildren, Gregory (Kathleen) Carney of Rochester, Susan (Eduardo) Sande of Zelienople, Steven Carney of Cranberry Township, Scott Carney of Shaler and Stephanie Carney of Cranberry Township; and her great grandchildren, Zachary and Noah Carney and Elliana Sande.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. “Buck” Carney Jr., who she married on Dec. 16, 1943, and who died on June 13, 2002; her son, Douglas Carney; her granddaughter, Rebecca Sue Carney; and her brother, Ronald Ripper.

Carney— The friends of Mary L. Carney, who passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to the time of services at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Bowen, pastor of the Middlesex Presbyterian Church, officiating.
