Callery council discusses sign Seneca Valley wants to install throughout school district
CALLERY — During a meeting on Monday evening, Oct. 7, borough council discussed a school project proposal from the Seneca Valley School District to place signs at municipalities throughout their district area — including Callery — with the words “Welcome to Seneca Valley Country.”
The school district has brought this proposal to at least one other municipality in recent months — Lancaster Township.
Multiple members of the borough council, including council president Rose Marie Wirtz, were unsure whether they could approve the sign without knowing whether or not it posed a risk to motorists. Wirtz said she and the rest of the council haven’t been shown a design of the sign yet, nor does she know the dimensions.
“What we would like to know is what the size is,” Wirtz said. “We need to know how big the sign is and what the dimensions are, because we have to be sure that where they place this will in no way impede any sight lines for driveways.”
