Edward Banyay

Edward Drebert Banyay, 87, a resident of Shelbourne Assisted Living in Butler, passed away Monday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born on Nov. 15, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Stephen and Leah (Drebert) Banyay.

Edward was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran who served during World War II.

He formerly taught for the Seneca Valley School District and was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Evans City.

Edward was a member of the American Legion Post 219 in Evans City, a board member of the Evans City Library, a former member of the Seneca Valley School Board and a former board member of the Clarence C. Brown Special School in Butler. He was an original member of the EDCO Community Park in Evans City and a former secretary of the Evans City Borough Council.

He is survived by his two sisters, Agnes Best of West Mifflin and Ruth Mirage of Cochranton, Pa., and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters.

BANYAY — The family of Edward Drebert Banyay, who passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.A funeral ceremony with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 202 Van Buren St., Evans City, with the Rev. David R. Saylor officiating. Everyone please meet at church. He will be laid to rest at the Evans City Cemetery.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his honor in support of the Evans City Historical Society, 204 S.
