Middlesex looking to update stop sign ordinance
An ordinance to update the Middlesex Township code on traffic stop intersections would add three new stop intersections: two at the intersection of McFann and Forsythe roads, and the other at Sandy Hill and Browns Hill roads.
The updates will be up for discussion at the supervisors meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
According to township manager Jeffrey Winkle, the ordinance mainly seeks to update the code’s existing list of stop intersections to reflect recent development in the township.
“It will make the intersections safer,” Winkle said. “I wondered, with all the new development Middlesex has had over the past five to 10 years, has anybody taken this list up to date? We’d come to discover that a lot of the stop signs at a lot of the newer developments hadn’t been added to this ordinance.”
The code regarding stop intersections — Chapter 162, Section 10 — was last updated in 2005.
“We’re basically redoing the ordinance to get all the current stop intersections listed,” Winkle said.
According to Winkle, stop signs are being added at the three locations based on a traffic study review.
