Power outage causing headaches in Cranberry, Seven Fields

UPDATE

Power was restored to the Route 228 area in Cranberry Township and Seven Fields. All units cleared the scene at 1:05 p.m.

Police and volunteer firefighters were dispatched to Route 228 between Route 19 and Hespenheide Road in Adams Township during a power outage early Saturday afternoon.

The First Energy outage map showed 1,428 customers were without electrical power starting around noon.

That meant the traffic lights on busy 228 in Cranberry Township and Seven Fields were not functioning, which necessitated the group effort by first responders to direct traffic.

Firefighters were called to the Hampton Inn on Pendleton Way to assist a person in a wheelchair down the steps from the second floor, as elevators were not working in the outage.

Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company firefighters at 12:40 p.m. got a generator set up at the entrance to Target off Route 228.

The First Energy online outage map stated that crews were on the scene investigating the problem at 12:45.
