Viola Jane 'Ody' Magnani

Viola Jane “Ody” Magnani, 87, of East Brady and Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Mars, passed away Dec. 24 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.

She was born April 7, 1925, in West Monterey, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Charles and Maud (Meyers) Barbera.

Ody graduated from Parker High School in 1942. Following World War II, she was a member of the Mars VFW Post 7505 Women’s Auxiliary and served as an officer. She also was a founder of the Mar-Vettes marching unit. She was an avid bingo goer and enjoyed hunting in her youth.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Charles Lennon of Valencia; her daughter, Judith Griffith of Cañon City, Colo.; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Michael and Amy Lennon of Butler; her grandson, Steven Lennon of Leola Pa.; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Leanne and Adam Grayston of Clearwater; four great-grandchildren, Austin Reges of Parker, David and Alexandria Lennon of Butler and Eljay Grayston of Clearwater; one great-great grandchild, Bentlee Reges of Parker; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Louie Floyd Magnani, who passed away on May 12, 1998; her brother, Alfred Barbera; four sisters, Thelma Buzard, Clara Carr, Rena Heasley and Lucille Seibert; and her son-in-law, Steve Griffith of Cañon City, Colo.
