Summerville

James “Rick” Summerville, 75, of Butler, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024.

He was born in Butler on May 28, 1949, to the late John and Betty (Smith) Summerville.

Rick graduated from Butler High School and worked as a roofer for Summerville Brothers Roofing. He was known for being a happy, helpful, generous, loving, caring and comedic person. Rick was a member of the French and Belgium Club and enjoyed fishing, playing pool and cards in his free time. But most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

Rick was the beloved husband of Barbara (Crawford) Summerville; father of Wendy Summerville and Kari Windham; brother of Timothy, Todd and Daniel Summerville; grandfather of Dyani and Zane Summerville; and soon to be great-grandfather of Willow West.

Along with his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Donald and Mark Summerville; and his sisters, Jaqueline and Elizabeth Summerville.

SUMMERVILLE — Family and friends of James “Rick” Summerville, who died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, will be received from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
