Middlesex adds stop signs to books, corrects oversight

MIDDLESEX TWP — The supervisors approved a new ordinance Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, that updated the township code pertaining to intersections with stop signs.

The language that was updated was Chapter 162, section 10, of the township code, which contains a list of all of the stop intersections in the township.

According to township manager Jeffrey Winkle, the original intent was only to add three new stop intersections: two at the intersection of McFann and Forsythe roads, and the other at Sandy Hill and Browns Hill roads. These are being added after an engineering study from Herbert, Rowland & Grubic.

However, in addition to adding the new stop intersections, the new ordinance will fill in stop intersections that have been put in place in the last few years as part of more recent development in the township, such as Middlesex Crossing.

“I looked at the current ordinance on the books,” Winkle said. “And we’re missing a lot of stop signs.”

The new ordinance contains a list of 150 stop intersections, more than the 106 in the ordinance it replaced.
