Charity founded by Sandusky will dissolve

BELLEFONTE — A judge has agreed to let the charity founded by convicted former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky dissolve.

The Centre Daily Times reports a Centre County judge granted The Second Mile organization’s request after a hearing on Thursday.

The charity’s attorney says Sandusky’s conviction made it nearly impossible for the charity he founded in 1977 to continue. The charity’s stated purpose was helping disadvantaged children, but Sandusky is serving decades in prison after he was convicted of molesting several boys, including some he met through the charity.
