LEECHBURG — Police are investigating after a member of the Leechburg Area school board received a “blackmail” letter related to a probe looking into alleged hazing on the boys’ varsity basketball team.

Officials say a handwritten envelope postmarked Feb. 11 included threats against the unidentified board member if head basketball coach Damian Davies is terminated as a result of the investigation.

Police Chief Michael Diebold says the perpetrator could face a charge of intimidation of a public official.
