William J. Kinch Sr.
William J. Kinch Sr., 85, of Benbrook Road in Butler died Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born July 9, 1925, in Eau Claire, a son of the late Millard F. and Grace Hindman Kinch.
Bill was a general mechanic and machinist and worked for the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 25 years until his retirement in 1981. He had formerly worked for the B&O Railroad for 10 years during the 1950s. Following his retirement, Bill ran a machine shop and mower service out of his home.
Mr. Kinch was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler, the VFW Post 249 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 64.
Bill was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. He was also a life member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
His second wife, Lucille Dawson Kinch, who he married Sept. 12, 1994, preceded him in death on June 15, 1995. His first wife, M. Catherine Sanford Kinch, who he married Feb. 12, 1947, died April 6, 1990.
Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Belva Casey of Butler; his half-sister, Mrs. Avis Ganoe of Foxburg; and a granddaughter, Michelle K. Kinch of Reston, Va. Several stepchildren and nieces and nephews also survive him.
Three sons and a half-brother preceded him in death.
<B>KINCH</B> — Friends of William J. Kinch Sr., who died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home, </B>201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Burial Estates.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home to conduct a parish prayer service.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
