William J. Depew

Depew

William J. Depew, 70, of Mount Joy, Lancaster County, died Wednesday at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home of complications from Parkinson's disease, which he battled for 12 years.

Bill was the husband of Margaret E. Grube Depew, father of Megan E. Depew-Mullen (Michael Mullen) of Maytown and Marla E. Depew (partner of Rusty Riley) of Chicago Ill., and grandfather of Aran, Brooke, Caden and Dean Mullen.

A 1958 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, Bill later served in the U.S. Air Force.

In the late 1970s, he furthered his education by graduating from the Lancaster Bible College Evening Institute.

Bill retired from the sales department of Zeager Bros. Inc. of Middletown in 2005.

Before his illness, he was an active member of the Calvary Church in Lancaster, where he taught Sunday school. Bill most recently attended the Mount Joy Church of God.

Born in Braddock, he was the son of the late Elmer and Virginia Weissert Depew.

His brothers, James, Robert and Albert Depew, and his sister, Janet Shymatta, survive him.

<B>DEPEW</B> — The funeral for William J. Depew, who died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Sheetz Funeral Home</B>, 16 E. Main St., Mount Joy. There will be no public viewing, however Bill's family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Center Research, 330 S.
