James Edward Adams
James Edward Adams, 66, of Butler died Monday at his home.
He was the only child of Helen Valunsky Adams Ansani.
Jim joined the Marine Corps in 1959 and proudly served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged after serving nine years. He later joined the USMC Reserves and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Reserves, reaching his goal rank of first sergeant.
After leaving the Marine Corps, he settled in Utah for almost 20 years. While working as a police officer for Salt Lake, he earned his bachelor's degree in behavioral science at Westminster College in Salt Lake.
He returned to Butler in 1979, where he had several other careers. In 2004, he started his favorite career of all, retirement.
He also was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
He survived by his wife, Laura, whom he married in February 1976; and his five children, Valerie, Laurie (Patti), Leigh, Mary and Matthew. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ashley (Brian), Nicholaus, Wyatt, Kayla and Isabelle. Other close family are Aunt Grace; cousins, Rudolph (Janet), George (Donna), Janet, Steve, John, Patty (Bob), Mary Ann (Herb) and Sherry (Larry); and lastly his beloved Lab, Jake. All will mourn his loss.

Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul R.C. Church.Jim was proud of his service to his country.
