MERCER TWP — Supervisors at the monthly meeting Monday night, Oct. 21, finalized their part of an inter-municipal agreement with neighboring Marion Township to allow Kozy Rest Campground to tap into the sewer system of both municipalities.

“We’ve hammered out all the details surrounding it, and we’ve all agreed on it, and that’s what we signed tonight,” said Mercer Township Supervisor John Bennett Jr.

Kozy Rest Campground, located in Marion Township, is a 34-acre park which features cabin and RV rentals, as well as a water park which opened this Memorial Day weekend.

The campground will pay for the sewage expansion project, which will require the installation of taps at six households in Mercer Township along the path of the new line.

Mercer Township’s only real involvement in the inter-municipal agreement is agreeing to convey the flows from the campground through its sewage system and allowing the campground to install taps at the six houses. The township is not expected to pay for any step of the sewage expansion project.

“Kozy Rest is responsible for pretty much everything throughout this entire agreement,” said township solicitor Sean Gallagher.

Gallagher also reassured the three supervisors that the new agreement will have little effect on Mercer Township’s existing operations and maintenance agreement with Harrisville.
