Butler VA participating in Drug Take Back Day

The Butler VA, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, is hosting National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and will collect tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at nearly 5,000 local drop-off locations nationwide, including the Butler VA at 325 New Castle Road in Butler Township, according to a news release from the VA.

People can drop off prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

For more than a decade, the event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications — those that are old, unwanted or expired — that too often become a gateway to addiction.
