A bluegrass band is playing a church in Adams Township on Nov. 1 as part of its 30th anniversary tour.

Donn George, president of the Zelie Arbor, booked Nothin’ Fancy to play Discovery Church, 170 Scharberry Lane in Adams Township, and said it’s the first live band event hosted by the Zelie Arbor, a service club that donates and performs community projects locally.

“It's a sit and listen type of concert,” George said. “Our nonprofit is the Zelie Arbor, and we're paying for the band to come in and it's the first professional band to come in.”

According to George, money brought in through admission fees will go to two charities in the area; the Bluegrass Relief Fund and the Zelie Arbor.

The Zelie Arbor is funded by Gleaner Life, and its members determine ways to give back to their communities through a range of activity opportunities.

“Half of the donations will go to Harmony Parks to update playground equipment and half is going to bluegrass relief fund,” George said.

George said his own family band, Bits' and Pieces, will open the show for Nothin’ Fancy. The evening will feature numerous bluegrass tunes performed by George’s band, as well as the award-winning Nothin’ Fancy.

The show starts at 7 p.m., and doors open for the event at 6:15 p.m. The suggested donation for admission is $20 for adults, $10 for students, and free for children younger than 10.

Cash or checks will be accepted at the door, but George said it is recommended to reserve seats by calling or texting 724-713-0195 or emailing zeliearbor@zoominternet.net.
