Overly

Douglas W. Overly, 66, of Venango Township, Boyers, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, 2024, at his residence with his loving family at his side following a lengthy illness.

Born on May 30, 1958, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., he was the son of the late Dempsey Sr. and Virginia Krepps Overly.

He was married on Nov. 23, 2002, to the former Sherry Edwards, who survives.

Doug was employed as a driver for Waste Management for many years and later for Campbell Bus Lines, from where he retired.

Affiliated with Ridgeville United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Valley Dam Sportsmen and Snowmobile Club, and the Boyers Sportsmen Association.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed time spent with family and following the Steelers.

In addition to wife, he is survived by three daughters, Virginia Smiley of Parker, Megan (Daryl) King of Mercer and Karlie (Tanner) Hempfling of Grove City; one son, Ryan (Wendy) Early of Strattenville; eight grandchildren; seven siblings, Deborah Campbell, Donna Mitchell, Marcy (Michael) Thomas, Rick (Becky) Overly, Dean Overly, Brian (Valerie) Overly and Shawn (Tanya) Overly; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dempsey Jr. and Dennis Overly.

OVERLY — Visitation for Douglas W. Overly, who died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, was held on Thursday, Oct. 24, at H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire.

There will be additional visitation from 10 a.m. to the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home. A private family burial service will follow Friday afternoon at Rosewood Cemetery at Ridgeville.
