Edward Boeh

Edward Charles Boeh, 64, of Venice, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024.

A Pennsylvania native, Mr. Boeh moved to Tennessee in his teenage years with his parents and youngest sister, remaining there until 2013, when he relocated to Sarasota County, Florida. Mr. Boeh received a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration in Tennessee and later attended Sarasota’s Liberal Yeshiva. He was a member of Saint Patrick’s Church, Sarasota, and a former member of Christ the King Church, Nashville. Mr. Boeh was a financial supporter of Saint Catherine’s Church, McMinnville, Tenn., which is currently replacing their 60-plus-year-old sanctuary with a new worship facility.

For a number of years, Mr. Boeh was a season-ticket holder with the Sarasota Concert Band, Sarasota Opera and Sarasota Orchestra, as well as a member of the Sarasota Opera Guild. Mr. Boeh was also active on several genealogy sites, served as historian for his paternal line, and authored a genealogy-related book. He descends from “Five Families” who settled in southwestern Butler County about 200 years ago (Boeh, Burr, Heid, Schaeffer and Wahl), with the Boehs later becoming noted fruit farmers. On his maternal side, Mr. Boeh descends from a family of textile manufacturers, with two of the former properties being historically designated, Dickeyville and Oella.

Mr. Boeh thrived while traveling across the USA and to countries located on multiple continents. Manhattan and Center City Philadelphia were frequent stops, along with regular visits to historic Harmony. Since moving to Florida, the equivalent of more than a year of his life was spent at sea, and he acclimated well to this environment. Mr. Boeh also appreciated and participated in a wide variety of cultural activities in the Sarasota area, and left a positive mark in the community.

Survivors include four siblings, Barbara of Pennsylvania, and Michael, Audrey and Lauren of Tennessee; 11 nieces and nephews; and his mother, Jeanne of Florida.
