True Value now open on 422

JR Rumburg discusses old signs found in a building he purchased on New Castle Road, as seen on April 19. Morgan Phillips/Butler Eagle

After months of renovation, the new True Value hardware store at 990 New Castle Road officially opened Oct. 18.

The store’s full name is Rumburg True Value, after the building’s owner JR Rumburg, who purchased it two years ago.

Signs from the building’s former occupant, Trader Horn, still can be seen throughout the new store.

The Trader Horn that once occupied the building opened in 1958, and was the original Trader Horn store. Headquartered in Penn Township, the company had 11 Trader Horn stores at its height in 2007 and employed 400 people in locations in Butler, Beaver, Clarion and Armstrong counties.
