Carroll

Jeffery Alan Carroll, 46, of Butler, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, while under the care of Allegheny General Hospital. His final parting gift to this world was to save five lives through his organ donations.

Born on July 28, 1978, in Butler, Jeff was the son of Nancy Schweizer Carroll and the late William F. Carroll. He is survived by his wife, April Altmyer Carroll, whom he married on Aug. 23, 2014; and his two sons, Brody Goehring and Parker Carroll. Jeff also is survived by his brother, Matthew Carroll (Katie Bieber); sister, Elizabeth Aguilar (Ray); brothers-in-law, Paul Altmyer and Russ Ward; and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he remained close to.

Jeff had a deep love for the outdoors, especially for hunting, fishing and mushroom foraging. He was also passionate about coin collecting. He was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute and was instrumental in opening Ditka's restaurant in Pittsburgh. Jeff’s culinary career was marked by many achievements, including co-founding Boneworks Grill with former Pittsburgh Steeler lineman Joe Cugliari. As the executive chef at the University Club of Pittsburgh, he had the honor of cooking for President Barack Obama and other dignitaries during the G20 Summit. Jeff also worked as executive chef for Springfield Group, helping to open Rachel’s Roadhouse in Butler, and later served as executive chef at Hyeholde Restaurant in Pittsburgh.

After a successful culinary career, Jeff shifted gears and learned a trade, working as a builder for Bulldog Garages and Weiland Roofing and Construction.

In addition to his father, William, Jeff was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Dorothy Schweizer; paternal grandparents, George and Loraine Carroll; aunt, Anne Carroll; mother-in-law, Linda LeDonne; and brother-in-law, Andrew Ward.
