Janice I. Olexsak, 85, of Butler died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Home of Erie.

Born May 22, 1922, in Jefferson Township, she was the daughter of Ellery and Mary Belle Ritchey Bachman.

She was an Army veteran of World War II and worked at the Spaide Shirt Factory and the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Mrs. Olexsak was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a volunteer worker in the church's kitchen.

She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, fishing and camping. She and her husband were wagonmasters for their camping group, Chapter 28, Blazing Star Coachman, for several years. She had been a Girl Scout leader in her earlier years.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Patricia) Turk of Erie; two sons, Rodney Bachman and his wife, Barbara, of West Virginia and Timothy Olexsak and his wife, Mary, of Evans City; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Alice Mae) Stehle of Shippenville and Mrs. Fred (Helen) Dey of Greensburg; and a brother, Lloyd Bachman and his wife, Peggy, of Shippenville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael A. Olexsak; a brother; and four sisters.

<B>OLEXSAK </B>— Friends of Janice I. Olexsak, who died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, West Jefferson Street, with the Rev. Alden Towberman officiating.
