CLINTON TWP — A large brush fire burned down a garage structure with multiple vehicles in it on a Miller Road property Wednesday afternoon.

Nearly a dozen fire trucks from multiple stations responded to the incident around 2:30 p.m. at 106 Miller Road. Firefighters worked to contain the fire that spread sporadically across 5 to 9 acres, according to Chuck Lewis, head of the ambulance command.

Nobody was injured, with the exception of a woman who went to the hospital after being bit by a dog amid the hectic scene.

With the property on top of a hill, and with leaves and debris burning in the valley back behind the land, Lewis said that the initial concerns were the fire reaching a well pad and a compressor station near the property.

“When it got down into the valley and the wind helped it spread, and it started heading toward the well pad and compressor station, we were nervous about it. But it’s now under control,” Lewis said while crews still worked on fully securing the incident.

Fire departments from Buffalo Township, Sarver, Freeport, West Deer, Herman and Adams all responded to the fire.

Firefighters and officials at the scene did not know an official cause of the fire at the time of the incident.

Brush fires have been a recent problem in Butler County, as departments have responded to multiple calls this week.

“You got a lot of debris on the ground; you’ve got a lot of mild wind that’s just enough to stir it up if you’re not paying attention and when you’re not expecting it,” Lewis said.
