Commissioners lock door to officeThe Butler County commissioners office on the fifth floor of the government center is now locked during the workday.Visitors must be buzzed in for admission.Commissioner Leslie Osche, board chairman, said the automatic lock was installed for security purposes, including the sheriff’s office activating a lockdown when necessary.Osche said she isn’t comfortable with the door to an office with elected officials being locked throughout the day, but it prevents any issues when the reception desk isn’t manned.The commissioners cut a post in their office this year.County officials and workers may use their identification swipe cards to gain entry.
I-79 restrictions put in place for workWORTH TWP — Ten-foot wide restrictions will be in place on Interstate 79 north and south starting Wednesday between Exit 99 at Route 422 and Exit 105 at Route 108 for the bridge preservation project on I-79 over Slippery Rock Creek.In addition, a single-lane closure will be in place on I-79 north and south on the bridge near Exit 105 starting June 1.The $1.6 million project, which is being done by Mekis Construction, is expected to be done by the end of September. It includes bridge repairs, painting and epoxy overlay.
