McKee get PSAC honorsLOCK HAVEN — Butler graduates Mick Fennell and Colin McKee have been named PSAC West Athlete and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, this season.Fennell, a senior center fielder for California (Pa.) University, led the Vulcans in batting average, runs, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, slugging percentage, walks, on-base percentage and stolen bases this season. He was also 5-1 in nine pitching appearances.McKee, a junior right-hander for Mercyhurst, is 9-1 this season with an earned run average of 1.52. He led the league with 77 innings pitched and a .153 batting average against.
SRU names Small men's soccer coachSLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University has hired former Millersville assistant Steve Small as its new head men's soccer coach.Small replaces Andy Hoggarth, who resigned to become the head coach at Walsh University.SRU won the PSAC Tournament last year with a 14-6 record and returns 22 players from last year's roster.
Curry unlikely to play SaturdayOAKLAND, Calif. — Stephen Curry is unlikely to play Saturday for Golden State in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals at Portland since he still hasn’t practiced on his sprained right knee.Curry did work on the side while the Warriors practiced Thursday but couldn’t yet do any of the scrimmaging that the medical staff and coaches want to see.
Vogel not returning as Pacers’ coachINDIANAPOLIS — Frank Vogel will not return as Indiana Pacers coach next season.Pacers President Larry Bird said the team will not renew Vogel’s contract for next season, cutting ties with a respected name in the coaching ranks. Bird said he believes it’s time for a new voice to lead the Pacers.Vogel was 250-181 in 5 1/2 seasons with the Pacers. He led the team to the playoffs five times.
