Man killed making Mother’s Day visit
PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man has been jailed on charges he fatally shot another man who was making a Mother’s Day visit when he was gunned down.
Online court records don’t list an attorney for 19-year-old Brett Terry who was arrested by an officer who heard the gunfire and saw him a short distance away.
Police say Terry shot 26-year-old Jamar Thomas several times as he walked from the rear to the front of a house he was visiting about 7 p.m. Sunday.
Police say Terry raised his hands to surrender as the officer responded to the gunfire.
Driver trapped after tanker truck crash
WEST MIFFLIN — Crews were working to rescue a tanker truck driver who was trapped after his rig crashed, overturned and briefly caught fire near Pittsburgh.
West Mifflin police say they briefly began evacuating nearby homes because of fears the acid being hauled had spilled, but called that off once they determined the load was secure.
The crash happened today about 5 a.m. in West Mifflin.
The crash was reported on New England Road.
