Pa. House bill resolve disputes over remains

HARRISBURG — Majority rule by survivors would resolve disputes over what to do with the remains of a dead person under a bill that’s on its way to the Pennsylvania state Senate.

The House voted unanimously on Tuesday in favor of a proposal that says that when at least three people with equal standing can’t agree, then the majority gets to decide.

If they can’t reach a majority decision, it’ll be up to a judge to determine what happens.

Current law says if two or more people have equal standing and can’t agree, then a judge has to decide who had the closer relationship with the dead person.
