Nancy Jones

Jones

Nancy L. (Sallade) Jones, 89, of Cranberry Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, while under the care of Sherwood Oaks retirement community.

Born on Sept. 4, 1935, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Earl P. Sallade and Inez M. (Beighey) Sallade.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest J. Jones Jr.; and her brother, the Rev. Ronald P. Sallade.

Nancy was a graduate of Shaler High School, Class of 1953. On Feb. 19, 1955, she married the love of her life, Ernie Jones, and they shared 68 years together until his passing in 2023.

In her professional life, she served as the financial secretary at Glenshaw Presbyterian Church, and later worked as a secretary with New Jersey Blood Services in New Brunswick, N.J.

A woman who lived her faith every day, Nancy always had an extraordinarily positive outlook and only the warmest of laughs and smiles for everyone she met. She was very active in all of the churches where she was a member, most recently at Plains Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. She also sang with the choir at Sherwood and played in their bell choir. Nancy also loved gardening and was very active with the garden club in Avalon, N.J., which is where she and Ernie enjoyed a robust retirement. She also loved square dancing and traveling with Ernie, and the two served as organizers for many senior trips. Most of all, she adored her grandchildren and pleasantly disregarded their parents’ requests not to spoil them.

Nancy is survived by her children, Kathryn (Ron) Carter, Karen (Jeff) Radomski and Lawrence (Erika) Jones; her grandchildren, Luke (Kim), Alex, Samantha and Jacob Carter and Jennifer, Lindsay and Daniel Radomski; and Peter (along with his mother, Allison) Jones; and her sister, Phyllis Burgess.
