PIAA soccer and volleyball, WPIAL, D9 football brackets: See sites, times, matchups for next round
The PIAA on Sunday announced the first-round matchups and sites and times for the state soccer and volleyball championships. And the WPIAL and District 9 football sites for this week’s games were also announced.
Seven Butler County teams are in the state tournaments, headlined by Mars girls volleyball, which won a WPIAL title Saturday and host their first-round game against District 6 champion Central Mountain, and Karns City girls soccer, which won the District 9 championship and hosts WPIAL runner-up Winchester on Thursday.
The PIAA quarterfinals for both sports will be held Saturday.
Five Butler County football teams still remain after Mars and North Catholic won in upsets.
Here are the matchups for this week’s events.
Class 4A: 7-2 Seneca Valley (14-3-2) at 6-1 Altoona (15-5), 7 p.m. Tuesday
Class 3A: 7-3 Mars (18-3) at 10-1 Harbor Creek (12-7), 6 p.m. Tuesday
Class 2A: 7-3 North Catholic (16-4) at 5-1 Bedford (18-0-1), 6 p.m. Tuesday
Class 1A: 7-2 Winchester Thurston (15-6) at 9-1 Karns City (16-4), 6 p.m. Tuesday
Class 3A: 7-3 Mars (16-2-4) at 3-1 Conrad Weiser (21-1), 5 p.m. Tuesday
