The Butler Public Library, in partnership with the Carnegie Science Center, will host a fun and educational program, “Space Encounters,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the library, 218 N. McKean St.

The program includes science demonstrations allowing children to experience comets, vacuums, life aboard the International Space Station and walking on the moon.

“Science Thursday” programs are open to children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Advanced OB/GYN Associates and the Butler Health System will offer a free care day Dec. 18 for women without health insurance.Appointments are available for free physical exams, Pap smears and mammograms at Advanced OB/GYN Associates offices in Butler and Cranberry Township.To make an appointment, call 724-285-9200.Notices of local upcoming news should be received by the Focus Department one week in advance of the event.
