BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will conduct an American Red Cross baby sitter’s training class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 17 at Alameda Park.
The class is for ages 11 to 15. Emphasis will be on prevention, safety, responsibility, leadership and professionalism.
Pre-registration is required due to class size limits. There is a fee which includes all books and materials.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an American Red Cross baby sitter’s training course certificate.

Parish schedules July festivalPROSPECT — St. Christopher at the Lake Catholic Church, 229 N. Bark for Life slated July 20CONNOQUENESSING TWP — The American Cancer Society will have its annual Bark for Life fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20 at the Butler Farm Show grounds.As part of the Relay for Life event to help fight cancer, Bark for Life is a non-competitive walk for canines and their owners.Register the day of the event, or online at www.relayforlife.org/barkbutlerpa.All proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society.For more information, call 724-504-2965.
Preston Park site of wildflower walkBUTLER TWP — A wildflower walk is planned for 10 a.m. July 20 at Preston Park, 415 S. Eberhart Road.Participants will meet at the flagpole near the parking lot. The walk will last from 60 to 90 minutes.Mark Welchley will lead the walk. Welchley taught biology for 37 years at Fox Chapel High School.Participants will walk approximately one mile over mostly level ground at a leisurely pace. The rain date for the event is Aug. 3.
Look Good, Feel Better session setCRANBERRY TWP — “Look Good … Feel Better,” a program designed to help women overcome the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. July 22 at UPMC Passavant Cranberry (Dr. Malay’s office), 3 St. Francis Way.The class is free and taught by licensed beauty professionals for all women undergoing cancer treatment.Register in advance by calling 800-227-2345.
