MIDLAND, Beaver County — Tessa DeJeet from Cranberry Township has a leading role in Lincoln Park's production of “The Lion King Experience Jr. Edition.”
Tessa, an eighth grade student at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, portrays the old soothsayer Rafiki.
The story of a lion cub who “Just Can't Wait to be King” in this family friendly production will have four public performances Friday through Sunday.
The cast consists of about 50 seventh- through ninth-graders from the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.
The one-hour stage version features the familiar characters and Academy Award-winning music from the Disney classic animated film including “The Circle of Life” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” written by Elton John and Tim Rice to a score composed by Hans Zimmer.
“Lion King” is Disney's animal kingdom version of Shakespeare's “Hamlet.” The lion king is betrayed by his brother, who usurps the throne and tries to prevent the return of the prince.
Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. for matinees Saturday and Sunday.
