LaVerne M. Luikart, 88, of Kings Chapel Road, New Castle, passed away Saturday at Jameson Hospital, New Castle.

A registered nurse at Jameson Hospital for 23 years, she was an honorary member of the Jameson-Shenango Alumni Association.

LaVerne was an active member of the Shenango Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed cooking, traveling and sailing, and was a volunteer for the Red Cross.

LaVerne is survived by her husband of 67 wonderful years, Walter W. Luikart; her daughter, Tracey K. Luikart of Brownsville, Texas; her two sons, Mark J. and Scott W. Luikart, both of New Castle, and several nieces and nephews.
