MARS — The Mars Public Library will offer the following programs at its location, 107 Grand Ave.

• Knit/Crochet at 10:30 a.m. first Tuesday of every month

• Super Reader at 4:30 p.m. first Wednesday of the month. Children can practice reading aloud to Peanut the yellow lab.

• Lego Club from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. May 3

• Martians Love to Read, Too, meets at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month. The May book will be “Kitchen House” by Kathleen Grissom.

• Just Landed in Mars meets at 1 p.m. the last Wednesday of every month. The May book will be “Moloka’i” by Alan Brennert.

• Story/activity for ages 6 to 11 at 10:30 a.m. each Monday beginning June 4 through July 16.

• Story time for ages 3 to 6 at 1 p.m. each Tuesday and 10:30 a.m. each Friday beginning June 5 through July 16.

• Summer reading program beginning June 4. The theme for children is “Dream Big Read” and for teens is “Own the Night.”

Used book, bake sale scheduledCHERRY TWP — The Friends of North Trails Public Library will host a used book and bake sale from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 5 at 1553 West Sunbury Road.The early bird sale will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

Baby-sitting training availableThe Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will hold an American Red Cross baby-sitting training class at the following locations:• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5 at the Slippery Rock Parks and Recreation Building• 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 12 at the Adams Township Municipal Building• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 26 at the Butler Township Park Building.Registration is required and will be taken at the department at Alameda Park in Butler and over the phone.
