SAXONBURG— The Oktoberfest celebration to support Glade Run Children’s Services will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St.

There will be an authentic German buffet, roast beef dinners, gift baskets, entertainment and a yodeling contest. Tickets are available at the door.

Recipes sought for cookbookThe Butler Eagle is seeking original family recipe submissions for a holiday contest and cookbook.The cookbook will publish Nov. 15. Deadline to enter is Oct. 24.Recipes will be judged in seven categories: appetizer/miscellaneous, breads, soups, salads, low-fat entries, vegetables, desserts.Finalists will be asked to prepare their dish for judging on Nov. 4. Winners in each category will receive a $500 grocery gift certificate.
