South Main Street in Butler will be closed between Jefferson and Cunningham streets from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17 for crane work.

Route 8 southbound traffic will be detoured onto West Jefferson Street, turn left onto South Washington Street followed by a left turn onto West Cunningham Street. Route 8 northbound traffic will turn right onto East Cunningham Street, turn left onto South McKean Street followed by a left turn onto East Jefferson Street.

The state Department of Transportation said detour signs will be posted along the detour route. Sidewalks will be staffed by flaggers, enabling downtown businesses to remain open. The flaggers will stop pedestrians while the crane lifts the items to ensure safety.
