New police chief introduced at Prospect council meeting
PROSPECT — The new police chief was introduced at the borough council meeting Monday, Nov. 4.
Todd Hinkle is the new chief of the borough police department. Hinkle has been working to restart the department and has thus far focused on filing administrative paperwork.
Council members also tracked down a missing copy of the borough’s code book.
The physical copy of the code book had been checked out of the library and never returned. This situation was resolved quickly, however, as one of the members of the council said he had the book in his possession and was asked to return it.
The council also prepared for the upcoming year. A motion to advertise the new 2025 budget was unanimously approved. When questioned by a resident of the borough, the council members promised no raise in taxes.
Alongside the budget, new meeting dates for 2025 were also approved. The borough council will continue to meet on the first Monday of the month, and the planning commission will meet on the third Monday.
Judith Raisley, a local funeral director and member of the Rotary Club, passed away on Oct. 26. The council approved a donation to be split between a gift for the family and a memorial book for the library.
The next Prospect borough council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 2 and will be the final meeting of the year.
