Eileen Quinn
Eileen A. (Hartzell) Quinn, 88, of Sarver, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at her home.
She was born on July 9, 1936, in Renfrew, to the late John Hartzell and Audrey (Hixon) Hartzell.
Eileen graduated from Evans City High School and then attended Bryan College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. She was a teacher for many years at Freeport and South Butler school districts and retired from South Butler in 2000.
She was a member and past president of Freeport College Club. Eileen was a member of National Education Association, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and was a Who's Who Among School Teachers where she was elected four times during her teaching career. She enjoyed teaching and working with children, and she loved to read, garden and travel. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, and grandchildren were most important.
Eileen is survived by four daughters, Gaylene (Carl) Massart of Sarver, Juli (Lynn) Ort of Alto, Mich., Cheri (Gary) Rider of South Lyon, Mich., and Heather Hair of Bonner, Mont.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Larry (Jan) Hartzell; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Hartzell and Evalyn Hartzell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Quinn, whom she married June 27, 1958, and passed away on Aug. 18, 2005; one sister, Janice Arnold; and two brothers, Dwayne and Daryl Hartzell.
QUINN — Family and friends of Eileen A. (Hartzell) Quinn, who died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Butler.
Family and friends will also be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, with a funeral service immediately following, at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, with Pastor Krajacic officiating.
