Seneca Valley student charged in water bead gun incident

Seneca Valley

A Seneca Valley School District student was charged with threatening another student with a battery-operated gun that shoots water-based gel beads and harassing the same student the following week.

Jackson Township police charged Isaiah I. Edwards-Hickman, 18, of Cranberry Township, with misdemeanor harassment and summary disorderly conduct following an Oct. 30 incident, and with misdemeanor harassment following a Nov. 4 incident. Both incidents took place at the intermediate high school, police said.

The principal contacted police Oct. 30 after a female student was found in possession of the gun, and an investigation conducted by school administration found that Edwards-Hickman brought it to school to threaten the victim then tried to hide the gun in the female student’s backpack, according to an affidavit.

Edwards-Hickman told a principal that the victim had pushed and shoved him, and he brought the gun to intimidate him, according to the affidavit.

The victim reported that Edwards-Hickman confronted him and fired the gun, which made a popping sound. The incident was recorded on a security camera, police said.

On Nov. 4, the district’s dean of students called police and said Edwards-Hickman threatened the same victim again even though he was warned to cease contact with the victim and had been cited in the Oct. 30 incident, according to an affidavit.

The victim reported that Edwards-Hickman held his cellphone to mimic holding a pistol and pretended to shoot the victim. Police said that incident also was recorded by a camera, and Edwards-Hickman admitted his involvement, police said.

Preliminary hearings for both cases are scheduled for Nov. 27 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz.

The district superintendent did not return a message requesting comment.
