Betty R. Shidemantle
Betty R. Shidemantle, 90, formerly of West Penn Street, Butler, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday at Cranberry Place, Cranberry Township.
Born March 20, 1919, in Koppel, Beaver County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. Rylott and the late Mary Estelle Smith Rylott.
Mrs. Shidemantle was the former owner/operator of Betty's Beauty Shop on West Penn Street, Butler.
Mrs. Shidemantle was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church in Butler. She was very active in her church, where she served as a deacon and sang in the church choir.
She also was a strong supporter to parents with children in sports. She also enjoyed baking and cooking.
Mrs. Shidemantle is survived by two daughters, the Rev. Mary Grey and her husband, John Emmett, of Prospect, and S. Beth and her husband, Steve Himebauch, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; four sons, Thomas D. Shidemantle of Staten Island, N.Y., David R. and his wife, Kathy, Shidemantle of Harmony, the Rev. Peter Shidemantle and his wife, the Rev. Karen Dimon, of Syracuse, N.Y., and Dale P. Jr. and his wife, LuAnn, Shidemantle of Erie; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and one sister, Mrs. Jean Allcorn of East Palestine, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale P. Shidemantle, who passed away Aug. 9, 1989, and by 11 brothers and sisters.
<B>SHIDEMANTLE</B> — Friends of Betty R. Shidemantle, who died Thursday, March 11, 2010, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. A memorial service for Mrs. Shidemantle will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Merry H. Meloy of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, Deacons' Fund, 201 E.
